Read any strategy book about social media, marketing, or branding and the golden word of the times niche will be slapped in your face over and over again.   The gurus preach to be effective entrepreneurs/creatives/influencers should narrow their focus to one particular market.  Books and blogs on the niche strategy are akin to the propaganda that sparked gold rush fever, promising a fortune after finding a trendy nugget, specializing, and selling, selling.  Don’t get it wrong. Done organically, the niche strategy can thrive and be successful.  However, trimming business ideas or plans to fit into a niche world is ridiculous. The niche stance can stifle creativity, create limitations, and leave businesses stuck in a role, in a sense, basically pigeon-holed into stale identities.  Expert opinion rebukes these negative details and mostly shy away from spelling out any of the niche strategy downfalls all together.

Don’t become a victim of “Jack of all trades master of none” philosophy stay flexible and be open to all options and avenues that can be applied to a business.  Specializing is not about differentiating yourself. Being unique is about differentiating yourself.
